WOOD STREET JAZZ FESTIVAL – LIVE MUSIC, COMMUNITY SPIRIT AND INCLUSION FOR CHALLENGERS
Challengers is excited to announce that the Wood Street Jazz Festival is back for its 12th year and will be held on Sunday 19 July 2026.
In partnership with Guildford Jazz, Guildford-based charity Challengers invites you to join in a blissful afternoon of live jazz on the beautiful Wood Street Village Green, GU3 3EU. Gates open at 12:45pm, with performances running from 1:30pm to 6:00pm.
WOOD STREET JAZZ FESTIVAL LINEUP
This relaxed, family-friendly event promises soul-stirring music, great food and drink, and an uplifting community atmosphere. This year’s exciting line-up of live jazz includes:
Liane Carroll Trio
led by the multi-award-winning vocalist Liane Carroll, joined by her husband Roger Carey on bass and Russell Field on drums. Expect masterful jazz, emotional depth, good humour and wonderful musical interplay.
James Davison & Callum Au Quintet
Hard-swinging, joyous and soulful music inspired by the great 1960s quintets.
Somethin’ Else Big Band
Bringing high-energy Latin rhythms, afro-jazzy beats and funk that will feel like a real party on the green.
Alice Milburn Quartet
Showcasing fresh talent on the newcomers’ stage with original compositions from the Hampshire-based vocalist and composer.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE WOOD STREET JAZZ FESTIVAL
While enjoying the day’s top musical acts, jazz goers can either pre-order delicious curry platters for Shahin Restaurant or grab traditional fish and chips on the day. A fully stocked bar, as well as tea, coffee and cake will also be available so there is something for everyone.
100% of ticket sales and all proceeds from the bar, tea/coffee/cake stall go directly to Challengers who provide inclusive, fun, and safe spaces across the South East where disabled children and young people can come together to make friends, enjoy new experiences, and learn valuable life skills. Challengers’ unique non-exclusion policy ensures that no child is turned away, regardless of the complexity of their needs or financial situation.
