You’re returning to host this year’s British Motor Show at Farnborough International – what’s your favourite part of the weekend? 

My favourite part of the weekend is getting to meet and being involved with all the families that attend. The British Motor Show does a great job of being interactive and engaging for all ages and it’s always great to see families get involved and watch mini machine-heads in the making!  

What are you looking forward to at this year’s show? 

This year, I’m bringing another Green Gadgets Show to the LEGO Live Stage in partnership with Smyths Toys, where I welcome families to explore with me some of the coolest, most versatile and most sustainable gadgets on the planet – I’m really looking forward to hosting this and seeing the reactions from the audience!

Throughout your career, you’ve been fortunate to ride and drive some pretty amazing machines – we know you love motorcycles, but if you could have any vehicle – past, present, or future – parked in your garage, what would it be? 

I’m very grateful that I’ve had the chance to have a go in a lot of cool machines so it’s very difficult to choose just one – but I was really impressed with a Quadski – a hybrid of a Quadbike and a Jetski. I loved that it had the ability to travel seamlessly across both water and land. That would be a very handy way to get to work! 

You’re also a big fan of Electric Vehicles, is that right? What’s your top recommendations for:

Family Car?

BMW iX3 – lots of space without compromising on styling!

Fun Car?

Lotus Emeya – lots of gadgets in a fast, slick package!

You started your career as a primary school teacher – how did you move to broadcasting and presenting shows about motorsports? 

My career at the moment is a mix of broadcasting and teaching! I qualified as a teacher several years ago, which I went on to do full-time for six years, before my first presenting job. This was a children’s programme about machinery, so it mixed both of my passions of education and motorsport. I love both elements, so now I visit schools in the UK with my engineering workshops as well as present in the motorsport field. I love the variety of my career, as I get to meet some fantastic people and travel to some wonderful destinations – and learn myself too along the way!

Your grandfather founded the world-famous Donington Park race circuit – do you think you’ve had that passion for motorsports from a young age?

Yes, I think this definitely influenced my love for motorsport as I grew up watching car and motorbike racing at Donington Park. The skill, set-up and engineering that went into supporting the racing really fascinated me. I learnt to drive and ride myself when I was a teenager, having been inspired by my family and the athletes I watched race at Donington.

What was your favourite thing about the summer holidays when you were younger?

My favourite thing about the summer holidays when I was younger was playing in the garden with my three siblings. We would build dens, ride bikes, play with the dogs, have water-gun fights, make obstacle courses and more. We lived in a very rural location, so it was fun to make our own entertainment in the garden at home.  

Aside from The British Motor Show, what else have you got planned for your summer? 

I’m really looking forward to the British Motor Show in August but also this summer I’ll be out riding my motorbike as well as some travelling, then towards autumn I’ll also be hosting at Goodwood’s Revival event and the Swansea Science Festival, so I hope to meet lots of people there too!
