CELEBRATING 15 YEARS OF THE SURREY HILLS WOOD FAIR
Grab your boots and get ready for the 15th Surrey Hills Wood Fair on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September, 10 am–4 pm daily at Fish Pond Copse in Cranleigh showground.
From the moment you enter the glorious sun-dappled canopy, you’ll find demos and drop-in sessions at every turn: hurdle making, tree climbing, bushcraft workshops and meditative “Nature Calling” walks and gong baths. In the woodland area, Shooting Star Children’s Hospice will welcome families with specially curated activities and information on how donations help provide palliative care and family support services.
MASTER CRAFTERS OF THE SURREY HILLS
In the main clearing, explore the extended Woodworkers’ Village, an inspiring blend of traditional and contemporary techniques. Master craftspeople demonstrate spoon carving, walking-stick shaving and greenwood turning, while modern experts showcase CNC routing and steam bending. Nearby, big-iron forestry machines highlight wood-management skills and log-saw machines slice through timber at high speed.
FAMILY FUN IN THE WOOD
Kids have their own action-packed zone where they can tackle the rock-climbing wall, fire arrows at the safe archery range or test their aim at axe-throwing, enjoy gentle rides on shire horses, join expert-led bug hunts, gather for wood-themed storytelling and get creative with face painting.
The central arena features continuous live entertainment: chainsaw sculptures by the Tree Pirates, lasso workshops with a genuine cowgirl, full mediaeval reenactments by the Paladins of Chivalry, and shire horses demonstrating the ancient art of log pulling, plus non-stop live music in the tent.
ADULT CRAFT WORKSHOPS
For adults seeking a deeper dive, craft workshops cover basket weaving, pyrography, leather making and spoon carving, all led by expert tutors with materials provided. Pause for a guided mindfulness session or gong bath in the woods to reconnect with nature before returning to the tools.
Surrey Hills Wood Fair is committed to inclusion: accessible disabled toilets are provided, Free Wheelers will demonstrate off-road wheelchair skills, and visitors can hire or try out an off-road wheelchair on site.
THE BEST FOOD & DRINK FROM THE SURREY HILLS
When hunger strikes, follow the aroma to wood-fired pizza ovens, hearty burgers and delicious homemade treats. Relax on a hay bale with a cool beer or cider and tap your feet to the live music.
the surrey hills enterprise community
This year’s Wood Fair is proudly run in partnership with Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, who provide palliative and end-of-life care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and support for their families across Surrey, North East Hampshire and surrounding areas. Optional donation buttons during ticket purchase and on-site fundraising activities will allow visitors to directly support their vital work.
