OPEN GARDENS RETURN TO PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE CARE
Beautiful flowers are starting to bloom across Surrey and Hampshire, and what better way to enjoy them than with Phyllis Tuckwell’s Open Gardens?
This event will see gardens across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire swing open their gates for friends, neighbours and other garden lovers to enjoy these wonderful green spaces, all to raise money for local hospice care. From large gardens with wildflower
meadows and idyllic woodland streams, to smaller spaces with blossoming shrubs and pots of colourful flowers, Open Gardens is all about celebrating and sharing the beauty of your garden with others for an important local cause.
Open Gardens will take place from June to September. All of the money raised through entry fees will go towards helping fund the vital palliative and end-of-life care that Phyllis Tuckwell provides for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. Some garden owners also choose to sell refreshments or plants to raise even more money. 22 gardens will be opening for the event, so you can choose to visit those closest to you, travel further afield, or maybe even plan to see them all!
“If you love connecting with nature or are maybe looking for some ideas to try out in your own garden, then this is perfect for you,” said Helena Burke, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “By paying a small entry fee to visit each garden, you’ll raise money to help us provide our vital Hospice Care.
Phyllis Tuckwell’s Open Gardens brochure includes details of all the gardens taking part in the event, where they are and when they are opening.

MORE About Phyllis Tuckwell
Phyllis Tuckwell provides palliative and end of life care for adult patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness (such as cancer, heart, lung or neurological disease) in West Surrey and North-East Hampshire, an area of 550,000 residents.
Every day they support over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through a mix of medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. They are currently building a new state-of-the-art Hospice on their existing site in Farnham, which will enable them to care for more people who need their support.
During the project, they are continuing to offer our specialist services from alternative locations. Their In-Patient Unit is
temporarily located in a care home in Camberley; our community support is being delivered by our Hospice at Home team for patients, families and carers at home; and our Living Well sessions and outpatient appointments will continue to run at the Beacon Centre in Guildford. Our support staff are located at a temporary office facility in Farnham for the duration of the build.
The NHS/Government only cover 25% of Phyllis Tuckwell’s costs, so they have to raise over £25,000 every single day to be able to offer all their services, free of charge, to patients and their families and carers. Phyllis Tuckwell therefore relies heavily on the support and generosity of the local community. Can you help? Find out more at www.pth.org.uk
