NATURAL LIGHT – DISCOVER THE HEART OF HEALING
Natural Light Wellness Spa, tucked away inside the Holiday Inn Guildford, is more than a spa—it’s a sanctuary for rest, reconnection, and true holistic care. We sat down with founder Katie and her team to find out what makes this multi-generational, family-run wellness centre so special.
What inspired you to create Natural Light Wellness Spa?
Natural Light was born from a deep belief in holistic healing. I wanted to create a space where people felt truly safe, held, and nurtured—somewhere they could exhale. It started with just me, but over time my daughters and granddaughters joined, and now it’s a family of therapists working side by side.
What sets you apart from other wellness spas?
We combine heartfelt, intuitive care with specialist knowledge. Every treatment is tailored, and everything we do—from the oils we hand-blend to the events we host—is designed with intention. We’re not clinical or corporate; we’re warm, personal, and deeply rooted in community.
Your team includes three generations of family—how does that influence the spa’s energy?
It brings an incredible sense of trust and flow. Guests can feel that we genuinely love what we do and that we care about each other—and them. It creates a very comforting energy. Our clients often say it feels like coming home.

Tell us about your treatment approach.
We’re proud to offer both traditional spa treatments and more specialist holistic therapies. These include Swedish massage, reflexology, Menopause Massage, Abdominal Harmony massage, Oncology Massage, energy healing, and our beloved Karma Head Massage. We meet people where they are.
Can you describe the meditation garden you’ve created?
It’s truly the heart of Natural Light. Tucked behind the spa, our meditation garden features a peaceful yurt for gatherings and treatments, shaded egg chairs nestled together for quiet reflection, and group seating areas perfect for conversation or ceremony. Guests often tell us it feels like stepping into another world.
What happens in the yurt?
The yurt is used for our seasonal circles, meditations, energy healing sessions, and spa day chill-out space. It’s a sacred space where people can connect deeply with themselves and others. It’s warm, grounding, and gently lit—perfect for letting go.
How important is the outdoor environment to your healing philosophy?
Hugely important. Nature is a healer in its own right. Our garden invites people to slow down, breathe, and reconnect. Whether someone is journaling in an egg chair or having tea after a treatment, that space offers something deeply restorative.
You hand-blend your own aromatherapy oils — why is that significant?
Yes myself and our senior aromatherapist, Racheal, create every blend in-house using only pure essential oils. Each one is bespoke to the person receiving the treatment. It’s not just about scent—it’s about emotional support, grounding, and healing through plant medicine.
Can you tell us more about your signature Karma Head Massage?
This is a client favourite. It’s a slow, intentional 60-minute treatment using pressure points, energy work, and a warm Third Eye oil pour. It’s especially helpful for headaches, overwhelm, and people who struggle to switch off.
How do you support people going through illness or difficult life chapters?
We offer specialist oncology treatments and work with people living with cancer, grief, anxiety, trauma, and chronic illness. Our Healing Pathways Foundation helps provide free treatments for those who need support but might not be able to afford it.
You recently won Holistic Spa of the Year—how did that feel?
It was such an honour. We pour so much love and care into what we do, and to have that recognised means the world. It affirmed that you can be heart-led and family-run and still make a huge impact.
What kind of events do you host in the garden?
We run full moon circles, wellness gatherings, breathwork and sound healing, and seasonal ceremonies. These events help people feel part of something bigger and more meaningful.
What do first-time visitors usually say?
They often say, “I didn’t expect it to feel like this.” It’s more than a spa visit—it’s an experience. People feel seen, heard, and restored. Many leave saying they didn’t realise how much they needed the space until they arrived.
How do you give back to the local community?
We work closely with local charities, run events to raise funds for the Healing Pathways Foundation, and are part of Spa Seekers—so Tesco shoppers can use their Clubcard points for a spa day with us. We also offer free wellness talks and collaborate with local practitioners.
What’s your dream for the future of Natural Light?
To keep growing with purpose. We want to remain a sanctuary for all stages of life—from teens and mums to those navigating illness or menopause. And we want the garden and yurt to become a centre for healing events, bringing people together through community and care.
