SURREY RESIDENTS INVITED TO JOIN SOLAR TOGETHER SCHEME
Surrey County Council is relaunching Solar Together, a group-buying scheme that enables residents to install high-quality solar panels and battery storage at a competitive price.
By joining the scheme, residents can feel confident they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from pre-approved and trusted installers.
The scheme helps residents reduce their energy bills and lower their carbon footprint – all through a trusted and transparent process.
It is free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation. Surrey County Council is working in partnership with all district and boroughs, independent experts iChoosr, to make the transition to clean energy as cost effective and hassle-free as possible.
Marisa Heath, Cabinet Member for Environment said: “Surrey is committed to helping residents make practical, affordable changes that reduce emissions.
“By partnering with iChoosr to deliver the Solar Together scheme, we are seeking to offer a cost-effective way for households to invest in renewable energy. Through group buying, residents can access lower prices from trusted, pre-approved installers – making the switch to solar simpler and more affordable.
“I would encourage anyone considering solar panels to register for free and explore how this scheme could help them save money while contributing to a more sustainable future. There is no obligation to install solar if you decide the end offer is not for you.”
How THE SOLAR SCHEME works:
- Householders can register online to become part of the group for free and without obligation.
- Pre-approved UK solar PV suppliers participate in a reverse auction. They are able to offer competitive pricing as the volume and geographic concentration makes it possible for them to realise greater efficiencies, which they pass on with lower prices for installations.
- After the auction, registered households will be emailed a personal recommendation which is specific to the details they submitted in their registration.
- If they choose to accept their recommendation, the specifics of their installation will be confirmed with a technical survey after which a date can be set for the installation of their solar PV system.
- Telephone and email helpdesks are on-hand throughout the whole process which, together with information sessions, will allow households to make an informed decision in a safe and hassle-free environment.
The scheme also offers retrofit battery storage for those who already have solar panels, and optional EV charge points.
